Tea, which spread in Zen Buddhism as a means of concentration

Tea was once recommended primarily to Zen monks. In Zen Buddhism, which is characterized by rigorous training, eliminating all worldly desires is crucial for attaining enlightenment. Drinking tea was encouraged as a means to clear away distracting thoughts and focus on their practice.

Supporting intellectual production and learning time

Matcha Time is a matcha powder drink designed to support modern intellectual productivity, brain work, and learning. By combining the wisdom of tea with the concept of supplements, it blends Uji matcha, which is high in caffeine and theanine, with glucose and L-theanine*. This balanced blend provides performance-enhancing ingredients.

*L-theanine: A powdered extract of theanine, an amino acid found in tea.

    Awakening × Relaxation × Energy

    Caffeine

This component is abundant in matcha and gyokuro. Caffeine stimulates the central nervous system, promoting wakefulness and improved attention.

    Theanine

An amino acid found in abundance in matcha and gyokuro. It is believed to provide a relaxing effect.

    Glucose

Glucose is the primary energy source for the brain.

      Delicious "natural flavor"

We used Uji matcha  "Samidori" in the Yamashiro district of Kyoto Prefecture and sugarcane from the Amami Islands, preserving its natural flavor. Enjoy the smooth taste of matcha complemented by the subtle sweetness of sugarcane.

茶の十徳 -The Wisdom of Tea "Ten Virtues of Tea"-

It is said that Myoe Shonin of Kozanji Temple on Mount Toganoo had the ten virtues of tea engraved on an Ashiya kettle. Myoe Shonin received tea seeds from the Zen priest Eisai and planted them in Toganoo, subsequently encouraging tea cultivation throughout Japan, including in Uji, Kyoto. Tea spread primarily through Zen temples thanks to these eminent monks. In Zen Buddhism, characterized by rigorous training, eliminating all worldly desires is crucial for attaining enlightenment, and drinking tea was recommended as a means to clear away distracting thoughts and focus on practice. The oldest tea garden in Japan remains at Kozanji Temple on Mount Toganoo, where tea is still harvested in May, and on November 8th, a tea offering ceremony is held to express gratitude to Myoe Shonin and deceased members of the tea industry.
